Silicon Flatirons, ATLAS, and ITP present David Cohen as our featured entrepreneur with moderators Brad Bernthal, Brad Feld and Jill VanMatre.
Speaker: David Cohen, Founder and CEO, TechStars
David Cohen is the founder and CEO of TechStars. Previously, David was a founder of several software and web technology companies. He was the founder and CTO of Pinpoint Technologies which was acquired by ZOLL Medical Corporation (NASDAQ: ZOLL) in 1999. You can read about it in No Vision, All Drive [Amazon]. David was also the founder and CEO of earFeeder.com, a music service which was sold to SonicSwap.com in 2006. He also had what he likes to think of as a ‘graceful failure’ in between.
David is a active startup advocate, advisor, board member, and technology advisor who comments on these topics on his blog at DavidGCohen.com. He recently co-authored Do More Faster with Brad Feld. He is also very active at the University of Colorado, serving as a member of the Board of Advisors of the Computer Science Department, the Entrepreneurial Advisory Board at Silicon Flatirons, and the Board of Advisors of the Deming Center Venture Fund. He is a member of the selection committee for Venture Capital in the Rockies, and runs the Colorado chapter of the Open Angel Forum. His hobbies are technology, software/web startups, business history, and tennis. He is married to the coolest girl he’s ever met and has three amazing kids who always seem to be teaching him something new.
Entrepreneurs Unplugged is a meeting place where faculty, students and community members with technical backgrounds learn about and get involved in entrepreneurship. In particular, the program offers students and faculty an opportunity to learn how a successful start up is created as well as an opportunity to network. Each Entrepreneurs Unplugged meeting features food, drink and – most importantly – an experienced entrepreneur to discuss his/her start-up experiences.

Glue is the only conference devoted solely to solving the web application integration problem-set.
People that should attend Glue include the architects, developers, administrators and integrators that have moved past the initial step of seeing the web as a platform, and are facing the real-world challenges of what “stove-piped” web applications mean for their overall strategy. Glue is about all of bits and pieces, APIs and meta-data, standards and connectors that will help us to glue together the varying applications of the new platform.

Get together with some other rubyists in the area to write some code, share stories, and swap ideas.
We are usually at the the high table in the back room.
Our gSchool students have been hard at work, now in their 10th week of the program. They’ve written six projects in pure Ruby, Sinatra, and now Rails. Finally they’re ready to show you what they’ve mastered so far. Each of our seven teams will present their project in under five minutes.
Join us Thursday, April 4th for the demos of their StoreEngine project – an e-commerce platform. The applications, built from scratch, feature product listings, shopping carts, the ability to check out, and shipping and billing addresses. Then on the admin side they can add, edit, and retire products and view/change the status of orders. Some teams will add on extra features like integrations with Paypal or Stripe for payment processing, putting items on sale, adding user reviews, and full-text search.
We hope you join us to celebrate how far the students have come and get excited about what they’ll be able to do by graduation in July. Please bring your laptop so you can access, experiment, and evaluate the applications.
RSVP at Eventbrite.
Stop by SheSays in May when we dig into Made Movement – a Boulder agency that only works with companies with product that’s “made” in the USA. Join their Vice President of Account Production, Rachael Donaldson, as she takes us through a tour and case study centered around what worked (and didn’t) on the user generated content side of their specialty site and agency. There are always lessons to be learned in every campaign and on May 22nd we’ll get an inside scoop from an agency that’s definitely turning heads in curation, content, and creativity.
Little. It’s the new big.
